Three-star receiver Ishmael Hyman (Holmdel, N.J./St. John Vianney) did not think he would like his visit to Kansas. He left Lawrence with the Jayhawks as his leader.
“It was shocking to be honest. At first I thought it was going to be weird, like cornfields, that kind of area, like I wouldn’t like it,” Hyman said. “They always told me -- Coach [Rob] Ianello and Coach [Charlie] Weis that Lawrence is different, and it was like a regular city, a nice college town.”
The Jayhawks are at the top of Hyman’s list now following the visit, with Old Dominion and Purdue trailing. Weis and assistant coach Dave Campo are a big reason for that, as both spent significant time in the NFL as coaches.
