With a 9-3 regular season, co-Big East championship and a coming move to the Big Ten, Rutgers is hoping to lock down the state's borders and keep its best players in the state. The atmosphere for Thursday's game helped with at least one 2014 target.
Junior athlete Juwann Winfree (Englewood, N.J./Dwight Morrow) visited Rutgers for the Louisville game Thursday, and he left Piscataway with an offer. The offer instantly moved the Scarlet Knights into Winfree's top group.
"As of right they're in the top three -- if I get the offers I plan on getting -- with Pittsburgh and West Virginia," said Winfree, who has offers from Pitt and Old Dominion already. "[Rutgers] is close so I can see me going there and hopefully I can put my team back on the map and be a playmaker early for them. I can see myself going there and like the school so far."
