It was not long ago that Washington (Pa.) junior Shai McKenzie was not even being looked at by teams as a running back. Now, he has five offers at the position.
The 5-foot-11, 210-pound McKenzie added offer No. 5 on Wednesday when the Duke coaches extended him a scholarship.
"Duke is a very good program from what I heard!," McKenzie wrote in a text message. "I know there 5-1."
Out in Western Pennsylvania about 30 minutes south of Pittsburgh, McKenzie also likes that Duke is far from his hometown.
"I like that they are far from home and I'm excited about the offer," he wrote.
Purdue offered recently as well, but McKenzie said he does not know much about the Boilermakers' program.
Pittsburgh, Toledo and Youngstown State have also extended McKenzie offers. He visited Pitt earlier this season.
