Tre' Bell has over a dozen offers, but the latest was special.
The cornerback from Jersey City (N.J.) St. Peter's Prep picked up an offer from Notre Dame just after noon on Thursday.
“That one was a really big one,” the 5-foot-11, 170-pound junior said.
Bell said he had a feeling an offer might be coming from the Fighting Irish after talking to their coaches over the last few days.
“I really want to get up there and see how it is,” he said.
Bell now has 16 scholarship offers, including West Virginia, where Bell visited for a recent junior day event and came away impressed.
“West Virginia is great,” he said. “Coaches showed me a great time.”
Bell said he plans to visit the Mountaineers' campus again on April 21. He has also visited Connecticut and spoke highly of that trip. He said he will visit Florida on April 7, then South Carolina on April 14. Both schools have already offered him a scholarship.
Bell said he's looking for a close-knit community, coaches he has a relationship with and one more important thing: academic, "which Notre Dame has," Bell said.
