Three-star OLB Kenneth Goins has committed to Maryland, according to his Baltimore Gilman School coach Henry Russell.
Goins chose the Terps over Georgia Tech, Rutgers, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Vanderbilt, Navy and East Carolina. West Virginia had also shown interest.
Goins, 5-foot-9 and 209 pounds, played tailback and linebacker for Gilman, which won a conference championship this season. He is expected to play outside linebacker for the Terrapins. Maryland has made recruiting the area nearby a priority and Gilman is one of the most talented schools close by College Park.
Maryland now has 18 commitments for the 2012 class.
