Helping his team win a championship is the most important thing on his mind at the moment, but linebacker Vincent Ascolese (North Bergen, N.J./North Bergen) will soon turn his attention to recruiting and finalize his college plans.
Ascolese, a 6-foot-2, 218-pound senior, said he's currently considering Illinois, Cincinnati and Michigan State, but he also has scholarship offers from Buffalo, Massachusetts and Temple. He scheduled an official visit to Illinois on Dec. 16.
“They send a lot of kids to the NFL -- a lot of linebackers,” Ascolese said. “Dick Butkus played there.”
