Some of the top performances turned in by recruits from the Northeast last weekend:
Chad Kelly (Buffalo, N.Y./St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute): Clemson-bound quarterback completed a 13-yard touchdown pass with 13 seconds to play and also threw for the two-point conversion in a 48-47 playoff victory over Canisius at Ralph Wilson Stadium. Kelly completed 19 of 34 passes for 301 yards and two touchdowns in the victory. He also ran for 202 yards on 20 carries.
Casey Cochran (Monroe, Conn./Masuk): Connecticut commitment completed 13 of 18 passes for 355 yards and five touchdowns in a 56-14 triumph over Weston. Cochran also ran for a TD, as Masuk stretched the program's winning streak to 22 games.
Greg Webb (Sicklerville, N.J./Timber Creek): Junior defensive tackle recorded 11 tackles, including two sacks, in a 23-0 playoff victory over Lacey. Connecticut, Rutgers and Syracuse are among Webb's 12 scholarship offers.
Nadir Barnwell (Piscataway, N.J./Piscataway): Junior quarterback completed 12 of 23 passes for 194 yards and two touchdowns to help Piscataway upset top-seeded Hunterdon Central 34-31 in the opening round of the North Jersey, Section 2, Group 4 playoffs. Barnwell, who has scholarship offers from Florida and Rutgers, also ran for 81 yards on 12 carries.
Vin Ascolese (North Bergen, N.J./North Bergen): Senior linebacker rushed for 114 yards and recorded 10 tackles (one sack) in a 20-14 victory over Passaic Tech. Ascolese, who scored the game-winning TD in overtime, has 114 tackles in 10 games this season. He has offers from Buffalo, Cincinnati, Illinois, Michigan State and Temple.
