Watch List lineman helps in Sandy's wake

A week had already passed, but Jim Portela still could not believe what he was looking at when he and his team arrived in Union Beach, N.J.

“It was like somebody dropped a bomb,” Portela said.

Hurricane Sandy rolled through Union Beach and much of the New Jersey coast on Oct. 29, totaling close to $30 billion in damage in the Garden State. So Portela, the coach at coastal school Red Bank (N.J.) Catholic, took his team to Union Beach to help clear the damage.
