UNC commits' teammate likes Tar Heels

10/22/2012

ERIAL, N.J. -- With two teammates of Adonis Jennings (Erial, N.J./Timber Creek) committed to play for North Carolina next fall, the 2014 receiver is familiar with the Tar Heels.

He’s also impressed with them.

The 6-foot-3, 190-pound ESPN Watch List receiver visited North Carolina and likes the program. It also does not hurt 2013 teammates Dajuan Drennon and Greg Webb are slated to sign with UNC this February.

“They treated me just as good as Greg and Dajuan [on the visit],” Jennings said. “They’re highly interested in me,, and they’re going to recruit me heavily because of Greg and Dajuan. They’re going to try their best to get me.”

Rutgers and FCS Delaware are already trying. Both have extended Jennings a scholarship and hope to keep him close to his South Jersey home.

Programs such as Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan State, South Carolina, Virginia Tech and West Virginia are pursuing him as well. Jennings has visited South Carolina, Virginia Tech and the Mountaineers over the past year, too.

The visit to South Carolina came in April.

“It was nice down there. It was a big campus. The coaches are great and South Carolina is a great school all around,” Jennings said.

The West Virginia visit was a nice experience for Jennings, who grew up liking the Mountaineers, although that does not give West Virginia an edge as his fandom stems from video games and the Mountaineers’ jerseys.

“I’m liking different schools and things start to change,” he said.

Jennings is good friends with Woodbury (N.J.) athlete Anthony Averett, an ESPN 300 prospect who is committed to Alabama. He might travel to Tuscaloosa with Averett later this year.
