RB Terry Swanson talks with Shell at Pitt

Pittsburgh freshman running back Rushel Shell put on a dominant performance against Virginia Tech on Saturday, and after the game he spoke with another young running back from Aliquippa.

Junior running back Terry Swanson (Aliquippa, Pa./Aliquippa) made a visit to Pittsburgh with a few teammates, most notably Dravon Henry.

Shell, who ran for 157 yards Saturday, graduated from Hopewell, which is also in Aliquippa.

“He was telling me to keep up the good work and maybe I can be here one day,” Swanson said.

It was the first time Swanson, whose father graduated from Pitt, visited the school as a recruit.

“It was great. The atmosphere was good. They treated me really good and they also played good. That made the trip awesome,” Swanson said.

Swanson also spoke with coach Paul Chryst and the Pitt athletic director. Chryst let him know the Panthers are interested and, if they offer, they expect him to sign with Pitt.

Although Heinz Field was far from sold out and the Panthers were coming off two losses -- including one to an FCS school -- Swanson was impressed with the crowd.

“I felt like they’re real diehard fans and I like that,” he said. “Even though they were coming off a big loss, they really showed up today and it helped the boys win.”

Michigan State is making an effort to recruit Western Pennsylvania more, and the Spartans are interested in Swanson. Swanson will visit Michigan State soon.
