Rahshaun Smith will play in his first high school game tonight. Yet the freshman began the recruiting process long ago.
Now there's a new potential suitor. UCLA has started to reach out to the high school freshman. Of course it's only mailings, which isn't a huge development until one is reminded that Smith is only a high school freshman.
The Bruins aren't the first. The 2016 athlete, whose nickname is "Shaq," has scholarship offers from Boston College, Youngstown State and Maryland. Ohio State has also shown interest.
It's hard to predict what position the 6-foot-3, 220-pound Smith will play this early in his high school career. Now, he looks like a college linebacker or tight end. However it's quite possible he could grow into an offensive or defensive lineman.
