Chigozie Onyekwere often gets overshadowed by some of the more known prospects at Washington (D.C.) Friendship. That may not be the case much longer.
The 2014 receiver already has one scholarship offer from North Carolina State.
“N.C. State is pretty good,” the 5-foot-11, 188-pound prospect said. “It's a good school. I've got family down there so North Carolina is a good school for me.”
More could be on the way. Onyekwere said he is receiving strong interest from South Carolina, Pittsburgh and Bowling Green. He believes those schools could be close to offering him a scholarship.
“It's pretty good,” he said of recruiting. “I'm getting contact with a lot of schools...Recruiting has picked up since my first offer my freshman year as far as schools coming in and talking to me.”
There's one scholarship offer that Onyekwere would most covet. He's long been a Florida fan.
“Florida is known for speed guys and that's what I am,” said Onyekwere, who has posted a 4.4-second 40-yard dash.
Onyekwere said he plans to visit Gainesville as soon as he can.
