After a trip south, Chris Laviano is closing in on his decision.
The ESPN 300 quarterback from Hicksville (N.Y.) Holy Trinity said he was leaning toward Rutgers and planned to commit in about a week. Laviano recently visited Florida and Tennessee. As for the Gators, he didn't exactly feel wanted.
"Threw lights out," Laviano stated via text message to ESPN. "One of the coaches loved me, but I guess I was too short or just not what they were looking for."
Then, the 6-foot-2, 194-pound quarterback went to throw for Tennessee coaches before returning home.
"The facilities were incredible and I liked coach [Jim] Chaney," Laviano said, referring to the Vols offensive coordinator, "but even if I did get offered, I like Rutgers a lot still and I got one more visit."
Laviano is scheduled to visit Maryland next week. Barring an incredible visit he seems destined to commit to Rutgers, which, along with Boston College, is one of the two schools to offer the four-star quarterback a scholarship.
