Clairton (Pa.) athlete Tyler Boyd has been racking up the offers in February and is now up to nine after picking up one this weekend.
Boyd was visiting State College, Pa., for Penn State’s junior day, and new coach Bill O’Brien offered him as a receiver.
“They’re all cool, and I finally met head coach O’Brien,” Boyd said. “He seems very trustworthy.”
The Nittany Lions join Akron, Arizona, Boston College, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Virginia, Virginia Tech and West Virginia as the schools that have offered Boyd so far. Notre Dame and Arizona State, where former Pitt coach Todd Graham is at now, could offer in the near future, Boyd said.
Boyd has not named any leaders or favorites, but he does have an idea as to which team will be there until the end.
“I’m just waiting, but I think West Virginia is in my top [schools],” Boyd said. “… I knew they were going to offer because I went to their junior day and stayed around and talked to the coaches and everything.”
