ESPNU 150 Watch List offensive tackle Brad Henson (Surf City, N.J./Monsignor Donovan) likes to get his homework done early, which helps explain why he'll be at West Virginia this weekend.
Henson has seven scholarship offers -- Boston College, Connecticut, East Carolina, Rutgers, West Virginia, Central Florida and Miami -- and said he's doing what he can to visit each school as soon as possible. He attended the LSU-West Virginia game last season, and will be back at West Virginia for a junior day Saturday.
“I want to learn more about West Virginia,” Henson said. “When I was there for the game I just got to see the stadium and the facilities. I also want to learn more about UCF. East Carolina is another school I want to know more about.”
Henson said he plans to attend a junior day at Penn State on Feb. 18 and a junior day at Connecticut on Feb. 25. In between, he's scheduled an unofficial visit to Boston College on Feb. 23. He's attended two camps at BC.
Henson's latest offer came from Miami after he attended a junior day there in January.
“The No. 1 thing I'm looking for is a good academic school,” Henson said. “I want a place where I feel at home -- where I fit in with the coaches and the players. I've gotten a good feel for quite a few places so far, and Miami is one of them.”
Henson said he's remained in contact with Rutgers during the recent coaching change and has a good relationship with Rutgers coach Kyle Flood, who coached the offensive line during his time as an assistant coach at Rutgers.
“At this point all the schools are even and I couldn't tell you who else might offer,” Henson said. “I'd like to make my decision before the season starts. I'm not saying that's going to happen, but that's what I'd like to do.”
