Senior point guard Darius Thompson (Murfreesboro, Tenn./Blackman) has decided to re-open his recruitment and is no longer committed to Vanderbilt, according to the Daily News Journal (Murfreesboro, Tenn.).
Vanderbilt recently landed transfer point guard Eric McClellan (Tulsa), which played in to Thompson's decision to decommit.
"At the time of his commitment we didn't know (about McClellan)," Darius' father Lonnie Thompson told the paper. "We overlooked it. We though he was competing with (current guard) Kedren Johnson."
Thompson committed to Vanderbilt in January over Tennessee. His father expects him to be recruited by ACC and SEC schools.
"It's wide open right now," he said. "I don't see him going out of the South. I see him going no more than about eight hours from home."
The move leaves the Commodores with one recruit in the 2013 class, ESPN 100 power forward Damian Jones (Baton Rouge, La./Scotlandville Magnet).
