One of the major themes of the spring signing period (April 17-May 15) is always the impact of college basketball’s annual college coaching carousel. This year has been no different as the movement among college coaches has created a sea of ripple effects on the recruiting front.
The vast majority of these ripple effects center around prospects who were at one time committed to a school that has undergone a recent coaching change. In these cases, there are three possible scenarios:
1. The player opts to follow the head coach to his new school.
2. The player remains with the school he initially signed with or committed to.
3. The player completely reopens his recruitment.
The first scenario is one that we’ve already seen several examples of this spring.
