Fringe ESPN 100 power forward and three-star prospect Dre'Kalo Clayton (Orlando, Fla./Evans) signed today with South Florida over offers and interest from Florida, Georgia, FIU, Temple and UTEP.
"South Florida fits my playing style and Coach Stan [Heath] was honest with me; everything he told me turned out to be true," Clayton said.
At 6-foot-6 and 245 pounds, Clayton is a power forward in every sense of the word. He scores through contact with drop steps and does a great job using his body to create space and angles to score over or around taller defenders. He can face up and knock down the open jumper or straight-line attack from the high post and short corner areas. Clayton is a good finisher in transition and solid passer out of the post when he draws help defenders. He competes for rebounds on both ends and works to defend his real estate in the low post. He is a workhorse with a good motor and is not only productive, but a matchup nightmare for less-mobile power forwards.
