Ron Patterson (Indianapolis/Brewster Academy) made a verbal commitment to Syracuse on Saturday while on his official visit.
Patterson becomes the fourth player to commit to the Orange in the Class of 2013, joining point guard Tyler Ennis (Brampton, Ontario/St. Benedict’s Prep), small forward B.J. Johnson (Ardmore, Pa./Lower Merion) and center Chinonso Obokoh (Rochester, N.Y./Bishop Kearney).
As I wrote earlier this week, Syracuse had hoped to ideally add another forward and combination guard to its 2013 class. While Patterson is much more 2-guard than the combo they desired, his 6-foot-3 and 195-pound frame make him the big and powerful athlete the Orange typically target in their backcourt, similar to the likes of Brandon Triche and Dion Waiters.
