No. 82 overall in the ESPN 100, Devin Williams (Cincinnati/Montverde Academy) is becoming accustomed to life at Montverde (Fla.) Academy and lining up his official visits.
"I have adjusted well coming from Ohio to Florida. I miss home but I am here for the right reasons and things are going well," said the 6-foot-8, 220-pound power forward. "Classes are going well and I really like science and I am learning how to manage my time better."
Williams is going on official visits to West Virginia on Sept. 27, UCLA on Oct. 6 and Memphis on Oct. 19. He is also in the process of working out dates with NC State and Ohio State.
"I want to take these visits, narrow the list to three, decide and sign, so all I have to think about is school and basketball," Williams said. "There is not any pressure, but it will be a weight off my shoulders."
Williams, who has offers from at least eight high-level programs, will provide one lucky coach with a powerful power forward. He already has a college-ready body and he rebounds in traffic as well as anyone in the class.
"Rebounding is what I do best," Williams said.
He is also a strong finisher and good low post defender who is tough, physical, competitive and getting better and better. He seems to have a handle on where his weaknesses are as well.
"I have really improved my shooting and extended my range to about 18 feet. The workouts have really helped me improve," he said of his time at his new school. "I still have to work on my perimeter defense."
Williams will pass the look test and the production test from the first day he steps on the college campus of his choice.
