West Virginia head coach Bob Huggins announced the signing of juco power forward Jonathan Holton (Miami/Palm Beach State C.C.) on Monday.

The 6-foot-7 Holton played one season at Rhode Island (2011-12), averaging 10.2 points and 8.1 rebounds in 28.5 minutes before leaving the university because of legal issues.

"Jonathan is the a prototype Big 12 forward," Huggins said in a release. "He can really score it off the bounce, play with his back to the basket, stretch defenses to make 3-pointers, as well as being a terrific offensive rebounder. He should give us immediate help on the frontline."

Holton is the fifth incoming recruit for Huggins, joining ESPN 100 PF Devin Williams (Cincinnati/Montverde Academy), PF Elijah Macon (Columbus, Ohio/Brewster Academy), C Brandon Watkins (Decatur, Ga./Grady) and PF Nathan Adrian (Morgantown, W.Va./Morgantown).

Class of 2012 ESPN 100 power forward Elijah Macon (Columbus, Ohio/Huntington Prep) will not enroll at West Virginia this summer but will instead spend a post-graduate year at Brewster Academy (Wolfeboro, N.H.), according to the Charleston (W.Va.) Daily Mail.

The 6-foot-8 Macon remains committed to the Mountaineers 2013 recruiting class.

"I'm going to Brewster next year," he told the paper. "But I'm still coming to West Virginia after that."

The moves gives head coach Bob Huggins three committed players from the 2013 class: Macon, C Brandon Watkins (Decatur, Ga./Grady H.S.) and PF Nathan Adrian (Morgantown, W.Va./Morgantown H.S.).

The MetroNews Network (Charleston, W.VA.) reported on Friday that ESPNU Super 60 power forward Brandon Watkins (Decatur, Ga.) has verbally committed to West Virginia's 2013 class.

"Brandon Watkins is long and bouncy with upside," according to ESPN's Mike LaPlante. "He should be an impact player on the defensive end and his offensive skills are rapidly developing.

"Watkins' decision to commit to West Virginia was a bit of a surprise as many thought the 2013 grad would wind up in the ACC or SEC, but the 6'9 power forward is great pick-up for the Mountaineers."

Watkins is the nephew of former Mountaineer great and Hall of Famer Warren Baker. Grady is the second recruit for head coach Bob Huggins and his staff in the 2013 class, joining Morgantown native Nathan Adrian, who committed in September.
