Florida announces signing class

Florida coach Billy Donovan announced his 2014-15 recruiting class on Thursday as the early signing period came to an end.

Signing with the Gators were three ESPN 100 prospects: SG Brandone Francis (Jacksonville, Fla./Arlington Country Day), SF Devin Robinson (Chesterfield, Va./Christchurch) and PG Chris Chiozza (Memphis/White Station). Donovan also will welcome SG Zach Hodskins (Alpharetta, Ga./Milton) as a preferred walk-on.

"We are really excited about these guys and their future at the University of Florida," Donovan said. "They all have tremendous potential, and we're glad they're Gators."

Seton Hall welcomes four-man class

Seton Hall basketball coach Kevin Willard announced the signing of four student-athletes -- including two ESPN 100 prospects -- to letters of intent on Friday.

Leading the way for the Pirates are ESPN 100 shooting guard Isaiah Whitehead (Brooklyn, N.Y./Lincoln) and ESPN 100 power forward Angel Delgado (Bronx, N.Y./Huntington Prep), along with three-star shooting guard Khadeen Carrington (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Loughlin) and three-star small forward Ismael Sanogo (Newark, N.J./East Side).

"We are excited to officially welcome Isaiah, Angel, Khadeen and Ismael to the Seton Hall basketball family," Willard said. "The future for Pirate basketball looks bright with this talented group headed to South Orange next season. This class has an opportunity to elevate Seton Hall basketball to new heights and leave their mark on this program."

 

Pitino signs four ESPN 100 prospects

Louisville coach Rick Pitino announced the signing of four ESPN 100 players on Friday.

Leading the way for the Cardinals is small forward Shaqquan Aaron (Seattle/Rainier Beach) along with point guard Quentin Snider (Louisville, Ky./Ballard), power forward Jaylen Johnson (Ypsilanti, Mich./Ypsilanti) and center Chinanu Onuaku (Upper Marlboro, Md./Riverdale Baptist).

Snider became the fourth recruit on Friday after decommitting from Illinois. He had originally committed to Louisville as a junior.

"This is a tremendous class that is deep, talented and all have great potential to improve," Pitino. "Not only is it a well-balanced group with outstanding basketball players, but they really fit our system. We look for offensive players who can be a triple-threat -- shoot, pass and beat their man off the bounce -- and this group can certainly do that."

Smart, VCU sign four players

Two ESPN 100 prospects highlight VCU’s 2014 recruiting class which was announced on Thursday.

Head coach Shaka Smart and his staff received letters of intent from ESPN 100 SF Terry Larrier (Bronx, N.Y./The Phelps School) and ESPN 100 PF Mike Gilmore (Tallahassee, Fla./Rickards) along with four-star PG Jonathan Williams (Newark, N.J./St. Benedict's) and three-star PF Justin Tillman (Redford, Mich./Pershing).

“We're very excited about this group because all four young men possess the talent, drive and work ethic to be outstanding members of our team," Smart said. "It's a class that can contribute to a great deal of winning at VCU."

Cofer headlines Tennessee class

Tennessee head coach Cuonzo Martin landed four letters of intent on Thursday evening, including ESPN 100 power forward Phil Cofer (Atlanta/Whitewater).

Joining Cofer in Knoxville will be four-star point guard Larry Austin (Springfield, Ill./Lanphier), four-star center C.J. Turman (Madison, Ga./Morgan County) and three-star shooting guard Jordan Cornish (New Orleans/Brother Martin).

"I'm really excited about this signing class," Martin said. "We've signed four great kids who bring a combination of athleticism, skill and toughness to our program. I know all of them are eager to get here and get to work."

Maryland signs trio of ESPN 100 prospects

Maryland officially announced its 2014 recruiting class on Thursday as the Terps will welcome three ESPN 100 prospects next season.

ESPN 100 SG Romelo Trimble (Upper Marlboro, Md./Bishop O'Connell), ESPN 100 SG Dion Wiley (Oxon Hill, Md./Potomac), ESPN 100 C Trayvon Reed (Snellville, Ga./Life Center) and four-star SG Jared Nickens all signed on with Maryland and head coach Mark Turgeon.

"We added four very skilled players who, combined with their outstanding character, will be very welcomed additions to the University of Maryland basketball program," Turgeon said. "Their personalities will fit in great with their future teammates. With their potential to get better, it should be a really fun group to coach."

NC State class is signed and sealed

NC State coach Mark Gottfried announced the signing of his 2014-15 recruiting class on Thursday, which includes two ESPN 100 prospects.

Making it official for the Wolfpack were ESPN 100 PF Abdul-Malik Abu (Boston/Kimball Union), ESPN 100 SF Caleb Martin (Mocksville, N.C./Oak Hill) and his twin brother, four-star SF Cody Martin (Mocksville, N.C./Oak Hill).

"We're really excited about this class. With two perimeter players and a versatile, inside-outside forward. We feel we really addressed some needs," Gottfried said. "All three guys play with great energy and enthusiasm. But also, they all have great character and will be great assets to NC State University.

"We think all three players will have great careers in our program."

Buckeyes ink three ESPN 100 prospects

Ohio State officially landed a RecruitingNation Top 40 class on Thursday with the announcement of four student-athletes signing letters of intent.

Joining the Buckeyes in 2014 will be ESPN 100 SG D'Angelo Russell (Louisville, Ky./Montverde), ESPN 100 SF Keita Bates-Diop (Bloomington, Ill./University), ESPN 100 SF Jae'Sean Tate (Pickerington, Ohio/Central) and three-star center David Bell (Garfield Heights, Ohio/Garfield Heights).

Ohio State head coach Thad Matta landed a verbal commitment from ESPN 100 C Payton Dastrup (Mesa, Ariz./Mountain View) last week, but Dastrup changed his mind on Wednesday and signed with BYU.

Kentucky signs four ESPN 100 prospects

Kentucky head coach John Calipari announced the signing of four of the top 35 players in the country: No. 3 center Karl Towns Jr. (Metuchen, N.J./St. Joseph), No. 2 power forward Trey Lyles (Indianapolis/Arsenal Tech), No. 3 shooting guard Devin Booker (Moss Point, Miss./Moss Point) and No. 4 point guard Tyler Ulis (Matteson, Ill./Marian Catholic).

"I'm really proud of this group as far as where they are academically, what type of people they are and their basketball ability," Calipari said. "All four of these guys are skilled for their position and they have the ability to score. We're happy to announce they will be joining us next fall."

Dastrup headlines BYU's class

BYU head coach Dave Rose announced the signing of five student-athletes on Wednesday evening, including ESPN 100 center Payton Dastrup (Mesa, Ariz./Mountain View) who switched his commitment from Ohio State earlier in the day.

The Cougars also added ESPN 100 shooting guard T.J. Haws (Highland, Utah/Lone Peak), three-star small forward Dalton Nixon (Orem, Utah/Orem), two-star small forward Jake Toolson (Gilbert, Ariz./Highland) and center Ryan Andrus (American Fork, Utah/American Utah).

"We are very excited about this group of signees," Rose said. "The commitments from these players mean a great deal to our staff and to our basketball program. This group is comprised of great players that will be terrific teammates. We are looking forward to the opportunity to coach each one of them."

On Thursday, Xavier head coach Chris Mack announced the signings of ESPN 100 SF Trevon Bluiett (Indianapolis/Park Tudor), ESPN 100 PG Edmond Sumner (Detroit/Country Day) and ESPN 100 PF Makinde London (Thompson's Station, Tenn./Montverde Academy) along with three-star SG J.P. Macura (Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North) and three-star C Sean O'Mara (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Benet Academy).

"This is an awesome day for Xavier Basketball," Mack said. "While many recruiting experts have labeled our five-man class as a top class nationally, we feel we have the best shooting class in the entire country. My staff worked very hard to identify talented players with tremendous character. North Carolina head coach Roy Williams announced the signing of three student-athletes to letters of intent on Wednesday.

Headed to Chapel Hill next year are three ESPN 100 prospects, including the top-ranked small forward Justin Jackson (Tomball, Texas/Homeschool Christian), the No. 4 small forward Theo Pinson (Greensboro, N.C./Wesleyan Christian) and the third-ranked point guard Joel Berry (Apopka, Fla./Lake Highland Prep).

"We are ecstatic that these three young men and their families have decided to join our basketball family," Williams said. "Each of them are talented, come from wonderful families and share a common trait in that they have a tremendous desire for their teams to do well."

The Tar Heels are ranked No. 3 in the ESPN.com RecruitingNation Top 40.

Vanderbilt reels in three four-star recruits

Vanderbilt signed a three-player class on Wednesday, coach Kevin Stallings announced.

Leading the way for the Commodores is ESPN 100 PG Riley LaChance (Brookfield, Wisc./Brookfield Central) along with four-star SG Matthew Fisher-Davis (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Christian) and four-star PG Wade Baldwin (Hillsborough, N.J./St. Joseph).

"I'm very excited about the three young men that are signing with us," Stallings said in a press release. "All three are great kids from great families, and we're excited about the help that they'll bring to the perimeter of next year's team and really proud of my staff of going out and doing a good job landing these guys."

The Commodores are currently ranked No. 25 in ESPN.com's RecruitingNation Top 40.

Collins, Northwestern announce class

First-year Northwestern coach Chris Collins announced his four-player recruiting class on Wednesday.

The former Duke assistant inked ESPN 100 SF Victor Law (South Holland, Ill./St. Rita) along with SG Bryant McIntosh (Greensburg, Ind./Greensburg), SG Scott Lindsey (Hillside, Ill./Fenwick) and PF Gavin Skelly (Westlake, Ohio/Westlake).

"We're very excited about this class," Collins said. "We feel like we have addressed a lot of needs in our team. We have added length, athleticism and skill to what we already have in the program. All four are great young men and terrific student-athletes. They all love to play, and that's something that really stood out. They live in the gym and they want to get better. They're hungry to improve and are excited to be a part of our program. All of them are great fits for Northwestern."

The Wildcats have the 21st-ranked class in ESPN.com's RecruitingNation Top 40.
