Illinois trip caps Cliff Alexander's visits
By Reggie Rankin
The best power forward in the Class of 2014 has completed his official visits. ESPN 100 No. 3 overall Cliff Alexander (Chicago/Curie) visited in-state Illinois this past weekend, completing his five NCAA allowed paid visits.
"I really enjoyed Illinois. Coach Groce is a real cool dude and I already know a lot of the players on the team," Alexander said. "Coach Groce has been to my house and I have been there unofficially two or three times, so I have a good feel for everything. We went over the plan they have for me mostly and I like it a lot."
In addition to Illinois, the five-star power forward made official visits to Arizona, Kansas, Memphis and local DePaul.
Alexander, a 6-foot-8, 225-plus-pound standout, is arguably the best rebounder and most powerful finisher in the class. He is also a excellent low-post defender and shot blocker, and his fastly developing low post and facing scoring ability reminds some of a young A'mare Stoudamire or the high school version of Dwight Howard.
Alexander is starting to move into the decision-making phase of the recruiting process and one of these head coaches is going to be extremely happy and instantly becomes a better coach if he selects their program.
