Why he committed: "I felt real good about the coaching staff. I liked how Coach (Donnie) Jones and Coach (Darren) Tillis are with their players. UCF is close to home and my family can see me play and after I studied UCF I saw that they had a really good program," Owens said.
What he brings: The four-star prospect Owens is a tough, competitive, physical and powerful forward that goes about six-foot-eight and just north of 230 pounds is a tremendous rebounder on both ends of the floor. He has excellent knack and quickness to the ball. He blocks shots in and out of his area as well. He can face and knock down the 15 footer in addition to having the ability to straight line short drive past less mobile forwards as well.
How he fits: Owens is the third best player in the state of Florida in the 2015 class. Only teammate Antonio Blakeney and Dwayne Bacon (Lakeland, Fla./McKeel Academy) rank higher. Owens will provide Coach Jones with a dependable rebounder and shot blocker and finisher. He will be a match-up problem for most power forwards because Owens plays in full attack mode and will go right at his opponent.
