Are you sitting down? John Calipari's team didn't merely land players in the Top 100. It dominated the landscape when it came to Top 25 prospects. In total, of the 23 Top 100 players the Cats signed, 19 of them were Top 25 prospects. Whoa.
Most Top 25 Players (Classes 2009-13)
Kentucky (19 top-25 recruits)
Julius Randle, No. 3 overall in the 2013 class, is another in a long line of top-ranked Kentucky recruits.
The University of Kentucky, itself, signed more Top 25 recruits than the next two closest programs combined. We're in historic waters in terms of the quality and depth of the players passing through Lexington. Twelve of the players signed during said time period developed into first-round draft picks, and not all are draft eligible yet.
Duke (8) For those who wondered if coaching the U.S. Olympic team was a downer for Duke's recruiting, you stand corrected. If anything, Mike Krzyzewski found a new mojo on the trail and could be in line for one of his biggest classes this year.
North Carolina (8) The Heels are a machine. Five of Roy Williams' signees during this time span turned into first-round NBA draft picks. The Heels also boasted the No. 1 player in 2010, Harrison Barnes.
Arizona (7) This number is due to the revitalization and talent injection that Sean Miller and his staff brought to the program. Remember, Arizona was No. 2 in terms of overall Top 100 signees and fourth on this list.
Syracuse (6) No surprise to see the Cuse on the list, especially given the fact we've seen first-round picks come from the program in three of the last four years.
Texas (6) The Longhorns had the Canadian pipeline cooking for a good window. Cory Joseph, Myck Kabongo and Tristan Thompson rolled through town to boost this number.
Florida (5) Billy Donovan won back-to-back titles, then re-kindled the program with more talent. The Gators have been flush with talented bodies ever since Donovan's reign began.
Kansas (5) With the class Kansas racked up last year you might have figured them to be higher on the list. As significant as five Top 25 guys in five years is, you get the feeling the Jayhawks are about to kick it into overdrive. KU broke Kentucky's two-year streak of signing the top player when it landed Andrew Wiggins.
Memphis (4) The guys on this list belong to Josh Pastner. When Calipari left, Pastner went to work on keeping up relations in town and managed to mine a few more Memphians to the program.
