Lawrence makes it official for UC
Top 25 recruit Jermaine Lawrence (Springfield Gardens, N.Y./Pope John XIII) made his commitment to Cincinnati official on Wednesday when he signed his letter of intent, the University announced.
Lawrence picked the Bearcats in February over St. John's and UNLV.
"We are very excited that Jermaine has decided to attend the University of Cincinnati," head coach Mick Cronin said. "Not only is Jermaine a very talented basketball player, he is a great young man who comes from a wonderful family. Jermaine is a multi-dimensional player that can affect the game in many ways whether it be scoring, passing, defense or shot-blocking; he can truly do it all. At 6-9, he is a guy that can defend and play three positions on the court. That excites me as a coach. Jermaine has had a tough year due to a wrist injury but is finally back to 100 percent and we look forward to him joining us this summer as we prepare for next season."
Lawrence averaged 13.3 points and 7.5 rebounds in 11 games this season. He joins a class currently ranked No. 24 in RecruitingNation's Top 40 classes.
