Shooting guard Austin Ajukwa (Columbia, S.C./Cardinal Newman) verbally committed to Clemson on Thursday, ESPN.com has confirmed.
The 6-foot-5 Ajukwa chose the Tigers over South Carolina, East Carolina, Jacksonville and Georgia.
"This is a big one for Clemson," according to ESPN's Dave Telep. "He's a guy that flew below the radar but we evaluated to be a high major prospect this summer. There wound up being a little tussle between the Tigers and Gamecocks for his services.
"Austin's not only a good kid and a good student he's a kid who can score the basketball. It's a big in-state win for (head coach) Brad Brownell."
Ajukwa will join shooting guard Patrick Rooks (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Christian) in the Tiger backcourt next season.
