Former Mississippi State signee Josh Gray (Houston/Phillis Wheatley H.S.) became Texas Tech's ninth recruit on Monday after committing to the Red Raiders over Kansas State.
Gray was released from his letter of intent with the Bulldogs following head coach Rick Stansbury's departure in March.
ESPN.com Recruiting Coordinator Reggie Rankin likes this get for head coach Billy Gillispie and his staff.
"Josh is a big marquee in-state signing for Gillispie and (associate head coach) Chris Walker," Rankin said. "He's an explosive scoring point guard who is also a lockdown on-ball defender.
"Gray joins a huge and deep class that will provide the Red Raiders with impact players inside and out."
Gillispie will welcome eight other new faces next season including forward Wannah Bail (Houston/Lamar Consolidated), forward Aaron Ross (Little Rock, Ark./St. John's NW Military), shooting guard Dusty Hannahs (Little Rock, Ark./Pulaski Academy), shooting guard Michael Carey (Houston/Lamar Consolidated), point guard Daylen Robinson (Kansas City, Mo./Moberly Area C.C.), point guard Jamal Williams (Brooklyn, N.Y./Lake Land College), forward Rodrigo Silva (Cheyenne, Wy./Laramie County C.C.) and point guard Trency Jackson (Jackson, Miss./NW Florida State College).
