ESPN.com confirmed on Tuesday that ESPNU 60 shooting guard Brannen Greene (Monroe, Ga./Mary Persons H.S.) has verbally committed to Kansas' 2013 class.
"The Kansas Jayhawks received an early Christmas present in the form of No. 20 junior Brannen Greene," said ESPN's Dave Telep. "Greene committed to Bill Self’s Jayhawks Tuesday morning."
"I kind of had a deadline," Greene told ESPN.com. "I felt like I had it to a solid four schools and I knew where I wanted to from there."
Greene, who visited Kansas for Late Night, included the Jayhawks, Louisville, Florida and Connecticut among his final four choices.
For Greene, the overall history and tradition of the KU program swayed him in the decision making process. "The tradition and how much of a value there they have for basketball helped a lot."
"Kansas now can turn its attention to another key strategic target: forward Julius Randle (Dallas, Tex./Prestonwood)," Telep noted.
"I'm going to try to get Julius or Chris Walker (Bonifay, Fla./Holmes Co. H.S.) to come along," Greene said. "I'm going to try."
Greene joins guard Conner Frankamp (Wichita, Kans./North H.S.) in the Jayhawks' 2013 recruiting class. Only Duke, UNC and the Ohio State Buckeyes own pledges from elite juniors at this point.
