Canyon Barry, the son of NBA Hall of Fame forward Rick Barry, has verbally committed to College of Charleston. The news was first reported by The Gazette of Colorado Springs.
The 6-foot-5 wing chose the Cougars over Miami, his father's alma mater, and Davidson.
"(CofC head coach) Bobby (Cremins) told me, 'I want Canyon to be happy," the elder Barry told the paper. "I know Bobby means that. I know he has my family's best interest at heart."
Canyon's half-brothers Jon and Drew both played for Cremins at Georgia Tech. He is the first recruit for the Cougars in 2012.
