Western Michigan head coach Steve Hawkins landed his seventh recruit for the 2012 class on Monday with the verbal pledge of forward A.J. Avery, the Chicago Sun Times reported.

The St. Rita senior told the paper that WMU's style of play is what drew him to the Broncos.

"I really like the style of coach Hawkins," he said. "He likes to push the ball and play a fast tempo. I really think that suits my style."

Avery joins small forward Taylor Perry (Rochester, Mich./Rochester H.S.), point guard Jared Klein (Otsego, Mich./Otsego H.S.), power forward Kellen McCormick (West Bloomfield, Mich./Notre Dame Prep), shooting guard Charles Harris (Antioch, Ill./Lake Forest Academy), power forward Connar Tava (Warren, Mich./De La Salle) and power forward Darius Paul (Gurnee, Ill./Warren Township H.S.) in Western Michigan's 2012 class.
