UNLV landed a verbal commitment from junior college shooting guard Jelan Kendrick (Marietta, Ga./Indian Hills C.C.) over the weekend. The news was first reported by www.cbssports.com.

Kendrick was a McDonald's All-American as a senior in 2010 and was ranked No. 44 overall in the ESPN 100 when he signed with Memphis. He left Memphis before ever appearing in a game and landed at Ole Miss last season where he averaged 5.1 points before being suspended from the team.

"I believe it's been a learning experience for me," Kendrick told CBSSports. "I've become a better person and my goal at UNLV is to help them win a national title and reach my final destination as an NBA player."

Kendrick joins ESPN 100 power forward Christian Wood (Palmdale, Calif./Findlay College Prep) in the Rebels' 2013 class.
