California coach Mike Montgomery landed another shooting guard prospect on Sunday with an oral commitment from Jordan Mathews (Santa Monica, Calif./Santa Monica), ESPN.com has confirmed.
Mathews' decision comes on the heels of the commitment of ESPN 100 guard Jabari Bird (Richmond, Calif./Salesian) last week.
"Cal's on an offensive run and it's come in back to back weeks," ESPN's Dave Telep said. "First Bird and now Mathews. Last spring, Mathews showed he was a much improved offensive player. Behind the arc, he's a high-major weapon. The next step is adding a mid-range dribble-pull up game. He will make 3s in the Pac-12."
Mathews chose the Golden Bears over Colorado, Virginia Commonwealth, San Diego State and Wyoming.
