Nebraska strikes twice on recruiting trail

8/10/2012

New Nebraska head coach Tim Miles landed his first two recruits for the class of 2013 on Friday, according to the Lincoln Journal Star.

Small forwards Nick Fuller (Sun Prairie, Wisc./Sun Prairie) and Nathan Hawkins (Rowlett, Texas/Rowlett) both pledged to the Cornhuskers while on unofficial visits.

The 6-foot-7 Fuller is currently ranked as the No. 18 small forward in ESPN RecruitingNation's latest positional rankings. He chose Nebraska over offers from Illinois, Minnesota, Creighton, Butler, Drake and Marquette.

The 6-foot-5 Hawkins held offers from Kansas State, Oklahoma State and UTEP, among others.

"He (Miles) laid out a plan of success for the team, and him having the background he does for turning teams around and getting them to where he wants to go is really impressive," Hawkins told the paper. "I want to be a part of that new Nebraska team."

Fuller played with the Wisconsin Swing on the AAU circuit this summer while Hawkins ran with the Dallas Mustangs.
