Mizzou it is for Webster-Chan

Multiple sources are reporting on Friday that small forward Negus Webster-Chan has verbally committed to Missouri, choosing the Tigers over Iowa State.

Webster-Chan originally committed to Louisville as a junior before re-opening his recruitment in April. Kentucky, Clemson, Baylor and Marquette were also involved.

"Negus is a long, athletic slashing wing that can get to the rim and finish," according to ESPN.com Recruiting Coordinator Reggie Rankin. "He can hit the jumper to the arc when in flow and is capable of defending both wings positions.

"A nice pick up for Frank Haith and he should provide the Tigers with a versatile wing."

Webster-Chan released a statement regarding his decision:

"After visiting with various schools and speaking to a number of coaches, I realized that making the decision on what school I’d like to attend would be no easy task. As the days progressed, it became even more difficult to narrow my choices as there were so many great institutions with quality programs to choose from. I definitely feel blessed to be in the position that I am in. I’d like to take the opportunity to thank the coaches that have taken the time out of their immensely busy schedule to evaluate and recruit me. Some of these names include Coach Hoiberg, Coach TJ, Coach Fuller, Coach Willard and Coach Shaheen to name a few. I’d also like to acknowledge the time and effort that Rob Fulford and the coaching staff at Huntington Prep have devoted to me and my development. I look forward to competing for a National Prep Championship to cap off my high school career."

The Canadian wing joins shooting guard Shawn Smith (Jacksonville, Fla.) and center Aaron Scales (Kernersville, N.C.) along with junior college transfers Quantel Denson (Hutchinson C.C.) and Tony Criswell (Independence C.C.) in new head coach Frank Haith's 2012 class.
