On Wednesday, St. John's head coach Steve Lavin announced his recruiting class for 2012.
Joining the Red Storm in the fall will be small forward Jakarr Sampson (Akron, Ohio/Brewster Academy), shooting guard Felix Balamou (Conarky, Guinea/Our Savior New American), power forward Orlando Sanchez (Bronx, N.Y./Monroe C.C.) and small forward Marco Bourgault (St. Malo, France/Monroe C.C.). The Johnnies will also welcome Texas A&M transfer Jamal Branch (Humble, Texas) who will be eligible in December and Harvard transfer Max Hooper (Carmel Valley, Calif.) who must sit out the 2012-13 season.
Lavin's 2012 class comes on the heels of a strong 2011 recruiting class and he has now signed 17 prospects since arriving at St. John's in March of 2010.
