Georgia Tech head coach Brian Gregory added to his 2012 class on Sunday night with a verbal pledge from point guard Corey Hewyard (Suwanee, Ga./Hargrave Military Academy), the Atlanta Journal Constitution is reporting.

Heyward is the son of the late NFL running back Craig "Ironhead" Heyward. He chose the Yellow Jackets over Appalachian State and Georgia Southern.

"I committed because it was the best decision for my family," he told the paper. "It has great academics and a prestigious basketball program. Coach Gregory has really started a movement to get it back on track, and I want to be a part of it."

Gregory joins a class currently ranked No. 23 on ESPN.com Recruiting Nation and features ESPNU 100 forwards Robert Carter (Snelville, Ga./Shiloh H.S.) and Marcus Hunt (Riverdale, Ga./North Clayton H.S.) along with guard Chris Bolden (Norcross, Ga./North Gwinnett H.S.).
