According to the Memphis Commercial Appeal, Memphis head coach Josh Pastner landed a verbal commitment from junior college guard Geron Johnson (Dayton, Ohio/Garden City C.C.) on Thursday.

The 6-foot-3 Johnson was a member of the ESPNU 100 in the class of 2010 before spending time at two junior colleges. The Dayton native chose the Tigers over Kansas, Marshall and Dayton, among others.

"It's a big opportunity, and I'm going to take advantage of it," Johnson told the paper.

He joins current ESPNU 100 prospect Shaq Goodwin (Decatur, Ga./SW Dekalb H.S.) along with small forward Damien Wilson (Austell, Ga./Oak Hill Academy) in Pastner's 2012 recruiting class.
