Nevada PF Hunter Myers picks Ivy League

Power forward Hunter Myers (Minden, Nev./Douglas) verbally committed to Harvard on Tuesday, according to The Record-Courier (Minden, Nev.).

Myers held offers from Princeton, California, USC, UC Santa Barbara and Lehigh but had narrowed his choices to the Crimson and Stanford.

"I took two official visits - Harvard and Stanford," he told the paper. "Those were my final choices. I liked the way I felt at Harvard. I felt more comfortable, more at home."

Myers will join power forward Zena Edosomwan (North Hollywood, Calif./Northfield-Mt. Hermon) in the Crimson's 2013 class.
St. Mary's landed a verbal commitment from perimeter player Calvin Hermanson (Lake Oswego, Ore./Lake Oswego) on Wednesday night, the Contra Costa Times reported.

The 6-foot-5 Hermanson chose the Gaels over Marquette, Oregon State, Utah, Drake and UC Santa Barbara.

"They've been recruiting me for about a year now," he told the paper. "I love the coaches. I have a great relationship with them."

Hermanson was the Gatorade Player of the Year in the state of Oregon last season after averaging 23.0 points and 7.4 rebounds for Lake Oswego. He joins point guard Cullen Neal (Albuquerque, N.M./Eldorado) as 2013 recruits for St. Mary's.

Shooting guard Aamahd Walker (Culver City, Calif./Culver City H.S.) ended his recruitment on Thursday night with a verbal commitment to UC Santa Barbara.

The 6-foot-4 Walker chose the Gauchos over Texas State, Eastern Washington and Cal State Northridge.

"This is a nice pick up for the Gauchos," according to ESPN.com's Joel Francisco. "He's an underrated wing who can score at all three levels."

Walker is the fifth 2012 commitment for UCSB. He joins guard Dalante Dunklin (San Diego/Francis Parker H.S.), forward Mitchell Brewe (Seattle/Seattle Prep), forward Mike Bryson(Sacramento, Calif./Foothill H.S.) and forward Sam Beeler (San Diego/Poway H.S.).

St. Mary's landed its first verbal commitment for 2012 on Wednesday with the pledge of California power forward Chris Reyes (La Verne, Calif./Damien H.S.).

Reyes, 6-foot-6 and 200 pounds, held offers from Boston College, Gonzaga and UC Santa Barbara.

Tanner Samson to Elon

6-foot-4 shooting guard Tanner Samson (Littleton, Colo.) has committed to Elon's 2012 recruiting class, the Colorado Chaos Basketball Club announced on Monday.

Samson chose Elon over Montana, Denver, Pepperdine, Utah, UC Santa Barbara, Wyoming and South Dakota.

"Samson felt a very strong connection to the Elon coaching staff, especially head coach Matt Matheny," Chaos President David Matthews said in a press release.

Samson is the fourth player from the Chaos to commit to a Division I program, joining center Josh Scott (Colorado), Kaileb Rodriguez (California) and Nate Engesser (Denver).

Mitch Brewe picks Gauchos

The Seattle Times is reporting that Emerald City native Mitch Brewe has verbally committed to UC Santa Barbara.

The 6-foot-8 Brewe chose the Gauchos over Montana.

"I'm really pumped," Brewe told the paper. "I'm excited to go down there, get to school and play some good basketball. It was really between UCSB and Montana at the end. I liked both schools, but UCSB was just the right fit, everything just kind of clicked."

Brewe, who averaged 22.0 points and 10.0 rebounds as a junior, joins point guard Dalante Dunklin in the Gauchos 2012 class.

Dalante Dunklin picks Gauchos

Multiple sources are confirming that San Diego point guard Dalante Dunklin ended his recruitment on Friday, choosing UC-Santa Barbara.

Dunklin announced his decision via his Twitter account as well. He chose the Gauchos over San Diego, Cal Poly, Portland State and Denver and is the first commitment in 2012 for UCSB.
