BYU lands 2015 SF Zac Seljaas

Small forward Zac Seljaas (Bountiful, Utah/Bountiful) ended his recruitment on Monday with a verbal pledge to BYU's 2015 class, according to the Deseret News.

Seljaas chose the Cougars over Utah, Utah State and San Francisco.

"It was a tough decision and every school had a lot to offer, but BYU fit me best," he told the paper. "I live the style of play at BYU, the coaches are awesome and the school is a great place."

Seljaas averaged 15.0 points and 4.0 rebounds as a sophomore last season. He is the first commitment for BYU in the 2015 class.

Juco SF Mike Anderson picks UW

Washington head coach Lorenzo Romar landed a verbal pledge on Monday from small forward Mike Anderson (Hartford, Conn./Moberly Area Community College). The news was first reported by www.jucorecruiting.com.

The 6-foot-5 Anderson chose the Huskies over South Florida, San Francisco and Central Michigan. He averaged 16.9 pints and 9.8 rebounds this past season at Moberly.

Anderson joins ESPN 100 PG Nigel Williams-Goss (Happy Valley, Ore./Findlay College Prep), SG Darin Johnson (Sacramento, Calif./Sheldon) and PG Jahmel Taylor (Los Angeles/Pacific Hills School) in the Huskies' 2013 class.

Rutgers adds juco wing Chris Griffin

According to a report on www.mycentraljersey.com, Rutgers landed a commitment on Monday from junior college small forward Chris Griffin (Tallahassee, Fla./Wabash Valley College).

Griffin played one season at Murray State in 2010-11, averaging 2.0 points and 2.0 rebounds in 8.7 minutes. He chose the Scarlet Knights over Florida Gulf Coast, St. Bonaventure, Miami and San Francisco.

"I'm a big guard -- I can shoot it, pass it, I can do everything," he told the site. "A lot of my strengths are things Coach (Mike) Rice is looking for."

Griffin joins PG Shane Rector (Bronx, N.Y./South Kent School) and SF Craig Brown (North Miami Beach, Fla./Broward Community College) in Rutgers' incoming class.

UCLA landed a verbal commitment from three-star small forward Noah Allen (Salinas, Calif./Palma) on Tuesday. The news was first reported by www.scouthoops.com.

Allen originally committed to Harvard in July before recently reopening his recruitment. He was also considering Colorado, St. Mary's, San Diego State, San Francisco, Washington State and Northwestern.

Arizona guard commits to CU

Shooting guard Jaron Hopkins (Mesa, Ariz./Dobson) ended his recruitment on Monday with a verbal commitment to Colorado. Hopkins announced his decision via Twitter, and it was confirmed by multiple sources.

"I have officially committed to Colorado university!!!," he tweeted.

BYU landed its second recruit from the 2014 class on Friday night with a verbal pledge from wing forward Dalton Nixon (Orem, Utah/Orem), according to The Salt Lake Tribune.

The Cougars offered Nixon in July along with Utah, Utah State and San Francisco.

"There's no place I'd rather be," he told the Tribune. "It's exactly the culture I'm looking for, and with Provo in my backyard, I just felt of all the schools, I didn't want to go anywhere but BYU."

Nixon is the son of former BYU player Kevin Nixon. He is the second 2014 recruit for the Cougars, joining shooting guard T.J. Haws (Highland, Utah/Lone Peak).

SG Cullen Neal headed west

Junior guard Cullen Neal Albuquerque, N.M./Eldorado H.S.) gave St. Mary's a verbal commitment on Monday night, The Albuquerque Journal is reporting.

The 6-foot-4 son of New Mexico assistant Craig Neal chose the Gaels over offers from Arizona State, Oregon State, Tulane, San Francisco and San Diego.

"They're a top-20 program, they went to the Sweet 16 two years ago, and I'm gonna play right away, and playing right away was a big deal for me," Neal told the paper.

Neal is averaging 27.4 points per game for Eldorado this season. He is the first recruit for St. Mary's from the 2013 class.

Arizona PG picks Trojans

The Los Angeles Times reported on Thursday that senior point guard DeWayne Russell (Peoria, Ariz./Peoria H.S.) has given Southern Cal a verbal commitment.

"I just feel like it's a good fit for me," Russell told the paper.

"This is a good pick up for the Trojans," said ESPN.com Recruiting Coordinator Joel Francisco. "The Trojans needed help at the point guard position and Russell will help out immediately.

Dons add Arizona forward

Multiple sources are reporting on Monday that Tucson small forward Tim Derksen gave San Francisco a verbal commitment.

Derksen held recruiting interest from Boise State, San Diego, Northern Colorado and Weber State.

"Derksen is the perfect glue-type for the mid-major level," according to ESPN.com Recruiting Coordinator Joel Francisco. "He's an excellent all-around player with a very high basketball I.Q."

The 2-star prospect joins center Matt Christiansen (Oklahoma City, Okla.) and small forward Joe Edmonds (Oklahoma City, Okla.) in the Dons' 2012 class.
