Senior guard Elijah Brown (Santa Ana, Calif./Mater Dei) verbally committed to Butler on Thursday night. Mater Dei head coach Gary McKnight confirmed the news to the Orange County Register.

D'Erryl Williams commits to Aztecs

San Diego State landed a verbal commitment from shooting guard D'Erryl Williams (Sacramento, Calif./Sheldon) on Saturday night, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.

Williams made his decision while on his official visit to the campus.

"He had a perception of how things would be here," his father, D'Erryl Williams Sr., told the paper. "The reality was better than the perception. It doesn't get any better that that. He said 'Dad, I don't need to visit anywhere else.'"

Williams chose the Aztecs over USC, Marquette, Fresno State, Loyola Marymount, San Diego and San Jose State. He joins his Sheldon High teammate Dakarai Allen who committed to San Diego State in September.

Portland State lands PG Zach Gengler

The Portland State Vikings landed a verbal commitment from guard Zach Gengler (Silverton, Ore./Silverton) this week, according to The Oregonian.

The 6-foot-2 Gengler also held offers from San Diego and Pacific.

SG Cullen Neal headed west

Junior guard Cullen Neal Albuquerque, N.M./Eldorado H.S.) gave St. Mary's a verbal commitment on Monday night, The Albuquerque Journal is reporting.

The 6-foot-4 son of New Mexico assistant Craig Neal chose the Gaels over offers from Arizona State, Oregon State, Tulane, San Francisco and San Diego.

"They're a top-20 program, they went to the Sweet 16 two years ago, and I'm gonna play right away, and playing right away was a big deal for me," Neal told the paper.

Neal is averaging 27.4 points per game for Eldorado this season. He is the first recruit for St. Mary's from the 2013 class.

Dons add Arizona forward

Multiple sources are reporting on Monday that Tucson small forward Tim Derksen gave San Francisco a verbal commitment.

Derksen held recruiting interest from Boise State, San Diego, Northern Colorado and Weber State.

"Derksen is the perfect glue-type for the mid-major level," according to ESPN.com Recruiting Coordinator Joel Francisco. "He's an excellent all-around player with a very high basketball I.Q."

The 2-star prospect joins center Matt Christiansen (Oklahoma City, Okla.) and small forward Joe Edmonds (Oklahoma City, Okla.) in the Dons' 2012 class.

Dalante Dunklin picks Gauchos

Multiple sources are confirming that San Diego point guard Dalante Dunklin ended his recruitment on Friday, choosing UC-Santa Barbara.

Dunklin announced his decision via his Twitter account as well. He chose the Gauchos over San Diego, Cal Poly, Portland State and Denver and is the first commitment in 2012 for UCSB.
