Scout's take: Haas flips to Purdue

November, 18, 2013
Four-star center Isaac Haas (Piedmont, Ala./Hokes Bluff), the nation's No. 86 overall prospect, has decommitted from Wake Forest and committed to Purdue, giving coach Matt Painter his second ESPN 100 performer in the 2014 class. Haas joins ESPN 100 small forward Vincent Edwards in the Boilermakers' class.

#AskCoachB: Latest on Bluiett

October, 14, 2013
Want to ask ESPN RecruitingNation national recruiting director Paul Biancardi a question about basketball recruiting? Tweet it to @PaulBiancardi using the hashtag #AskCoachB.

I spoke with Trevon's dad, Reynardo Bluiett, just a few days ago and he mentioned the following schools for his son: Butler, Memphis, Xavier, Michigan State and Purdue.

This past weekend, Bluiett (Indianapolis/Park Tudor) made an official visit to Memphis. A significant factor in the favor of Memphis is assistant coach Jason Gardner, who was Mr. Basketball in Indiana in 1999 and became an All-American at Arizona. Butler also seems to be right in the thick of it, as they are the local school that is now in the Big East. Michigan State is in the hunt to go along with ESPN 100 PG Lourawls Nairn, who we like to distribute the ball. After speaking with his dad, it looks as though there is a good chance Bluiett will make his decision in the early signing period.

Scout's take: Edwards to Purdue

September, 14, 2013
Purdue coach Matt Painter received some good news on Saturday when ESPN 100 small forward Vincent Edwards (Middletown, Ohio/Middletown), ranked No. 83 overall, committed to the Boilermakers over offers from Dayton, Michigan and Xavier.

"I picked Purdue because it feels like home and I am very comfortable here," wrote Edwards via text from Saturday's Notre Dame-Purdue football game.

This is a great pickup for Matt Painter, landing the second-best player from the state of Ohio. Only Ohio State commit Jae'Sean Tate ranks higher.

Why did he pick Purdue? And what will he bring to the Boilermakers? Let's break it down.

Vandy adds late addition to 2013 class

Vanderbilt head coach Kevin Stallings added a late commitment to the Commodores' 2013 class earlier this week, according to The Tennessean.

Six-foot-10 power forward Luke Kornet (Argyle, Texas/Liberty Christian) chose Vanderbilt after considering interest from SMU, Kansas State, Purdue and TCU. He is the son of former Vanderbilt player Frank Kornet, who was All-SEC in the late 1980s.

"I think it's awesome," the elder Kornet told the paper. "It's hard to describe how it's coming full circle again. I'm really happy for Luke. I think it's a great fit. I've always tried to, for the most part, stay out of it. But at same time, you'd love for them to be part of that -- something you were a part of once and holds a special place in your heart."

Kornet joins ESPN 100 PF Damian Jones (Baton Rouge, La./Scotlandville Magnet).
