Forward Henry Caruso to Ivy League

Princeton nabbed a verbal commitment from forward Henry Caruso (San Mateo, Calif./Junipero Serra) last month, the Mercury News reported.

The 6-foot-4 Caruso made his decision while on his official visit on Oct. 21 but did not make the news public until he was accepted to the Ivy League school on Monday.

"It's a perfect fit," Serra head coach Chuck Rapp told the paper.

Caruso will be joined by C Peter Miller (Winchester, Mass./Northfield-Mt. Hermon) and SG Steven Cook (Winnetka, Ill./New Trier) in the Tigers' 2013 class.

Arizona SF Drew Bender picks Rice

Phoenix native Drew Bender (Pinnacle H.S.) ended his recruitment on Tuesday with a commitment to Rice, according to www.azcentral.com.

Bender chose the Owls after his official visit to Rice last weekend.

"I loved it there," he told the news site. "I slept on it a couple of days. I talked to my parents. It kept going back to Rice."

He chose the Owls over UC Irvine, Princeton and Northeastern. Bender is the fourth 2013 recruit for Rice, joining SG Marcus Jackson (Los Angeles/Pacific Hills), C Andrew Drone (Junction, Ill./Gallatin County) and PF Denzel Davis (Orlando, Fla./Lake Highland Prep).

Power forward Hunter Myers (Minden, Nev./Douglas) verbally committed to Harvard on Tuesday, according to The Record-Courier (Minden, Nev.).

Myers held offers from Princeton, California, USC, UC Santa Barbara and Lehigh but had narrowed his choices to the Crimson and Stanford.

"I took two official visits - Harvard and Stanford," he told the paper. "Those were my final choices. I liked the way I felt at Harvard. I felt more comfortable, more at home."

Myers will join power forward Zena Edosomwan (North Hollywood, Calif./Northfield-Mt. Hermon) in the Crimson's 2013 class.

Heath is the son of USF head coach Stan Heath. The lead guard chose the Bulls over DePaul, Georgia Southern, Jacksonville, Princeton and North Florida.

BYU head coach Dave Rose landed a verbal commitment from power forward Luke Worthington (Mequon, Wisc./Homestead) on Monday, The Deseret News is reporting.

Three-star power forward Luke Worthington (Mequon, Wis./Homestead) trimmed his list of more than 30 offers to five schools, his father confirmed to ESPN.com.

Worthington's final five schools are Butler, Brigham Young, Davidson, Pennsylvania and Princeton.
6-foot-10 center Peter Miller (Winchester, Mass./Northfield-Mt. Hermon) committed Tuesday to Ivy League power Princeton. ESPN Boston's Brendan Hall reported the news.

"I am thrilled for Peter to be attending one of the world's most prestigious universities, and I believe that he has an outstanding opportunity to make an impact on their basketball program immediately," his AAU coach Mike Crotty said in a statement.

The Plainfield (N.J.) Sports News reported on Sunday that forward Justin Sears (Plainfield, N.J./Plainfield H.S.) has verbally committed to Yale's 2012 class.

Sears, a 6-foot-7 2-star prospect, chose the Bulldogs over fellow Ivy League program Princeton.

"Academics have alwyas been a focus of my family," Sears told paper. "My parents always stressed academics and grades."

Sears joins point guard Jack Montague (Brentwood, Tenn./Brentwood H.S.) in Yale's 2012 class.
