The University of Notre Dame announced its 2013 recruiting class on Wednesday.
Signing letters of intent with the Fighting Irish were a trio of ESPN 100 prospects: PG Demetrius Jackson (Mishawaka, Ind./Marian), SG Steve Vasturia (Medford, N.J./St. Joseph's Prep) and SF V.J. Beachem (New Haven, Ind./New Haven) along with PF Austin Torres (Mishawaka, Ind./Penn).
"We felt that we needed to strengthen our perimeter game with this year's class and I really think that we accomplished that," head coach Mike Brey said. "Our current guards, [Eric] Atkins and [Jerian] Grant, believe it or not, are getting older. We feel we accomplished our needs with the three players we added [Beachem, Jackson and Vasturia] and then strengthened our frontline with a young man [Torres] who is an active player around the basket. This is a heck of a class for us and it keeps our perimeter strength in great shape for years to come."
Brey's class checks in at No. 10 on ESPN's RecruitingNation.

Forward Austin Torres (Mishawaka, Ind./Penn) switched courses on Monday night, offering a verbal commitment to Notre Dame just a week after pledging to Central Michigan, The South Bend Tribune reported.
Torres is an AAU teammate of recent ND pledge and ESPN 100 point guard Demetrius Jackson (Mishawaka, Ind./Marian). Head coach Mike Brey offered Torres after Jackson announced his decision on Thursday.
"It's crazy," Torres told the paper late Monday. "It's been a dream of mine forever to go to Notre Dame. I've been to so many basketball games, so many soccer games."
Torres joins a top-five recruiting class for the Irish which features three ESPN 100 prospects including Jackson, SG Steve Vasturia (Medford, N.J./St. Joseph's) and SF V.J. Beachem (New Haven, Ind./New Haven).
