Clemson lands first 2014 commitment

Point guard Gabe DeVoe (Shelby, N.C./Shelby) became Clemson's first commitment from the 2014 class when the senior picked the Tigers on Tuesday, the Shelby Star reported.

DeVoe held offers from Marshall, UNC-Wilmington, Richmond, Charlotte and Xavier.

"The recruiting process gets a little aggravating," he told the paper. "So I decided I was going to get it out of the way. Now I won't have to worry about anything, you can just go enjoy your senior year.

DeVoe averaged 20.2 points, 6.2 rebounds and 4.5 assists as a junior last season.

Oak Hill guard picks DePaul

AM ET has confirmed that shooting guard R.J. Curington (Dyer, Ind./Oak Hill Academy) has verbally committed to DePaul.

UNCW adds post Chuck Ogbodo

According to the Wilmington Star News, UNC Wilmington landed a verbal commitment from in-state center Chuck Ogbodo (Greensboro, N.C./High Point Christian) on Wednesday.

Ogbodo had high-major interest from Texas A&M and DePaul along with St. Louis and Western Carolina.

"He said all along it wasn't about the conference," High Point head coach Brandon Clifford told the paper. "In the end he felt like UNCW was the best place for him. He feels good about where UNCW is headed, the league and the competition."

The native of Nigeria, who has been in the United Sates for two years, joins Tyler Ptacek (Parma, Ohio/Padua Franciscan) in the Seahawks' class of 2013.

N.C. guard Graham picks App State

Point guard Devonte Graham (Raleigh, N.C./Broughton) verbally committed to Appalachian State on Tuesday, according to

The 6-footer chose the Mountaineers over UNC-Wilmington, Richmond, Rhode Island and High Point.

"I think the situation at App right now is one where they don't really have a true point guard," Broughton head coach Jeff Ferrell told the site. "They're using combo guards and shooting guards at the point."

Graham joins shooting guard's Tymetrius Toney (Alpharetta, Ga./Alpharetta) and Aaron Scott (Columbia, S.C./Richland Northeast), both of whom committed to App State last weekend.
