Kendrick Nunn sets official visits

Four-star shooting guard Kendrick Nunn (Chicago, Ill./Simeon), who named a final five earlier this month, has scheduled his official visits, ESPNChicago.com reports.

The No. 56 player in the ESPN 100 will visit Illinois on Sept. 14, Memphis on Sept. 21, UCLA on Sept. 28, Ohio State on Oct. 5 and Marquette on Oct. 12.

Two-star guard Juwan Parker (Tulsa, Okla./Booker T. Washington) has committed to the University of Georgia, multiple sources report.

Baylor, Marquette, Memphis, Mercer, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Stanford, Tulsa and Vanderbilt also offered the 6-foot-4, 180-pounder.

Parker likes both UGA's coaching staff and its academics, according to the Tulsa World:

"My family has a good relationship with coach Kwanza and coach Fox, and Georgia has one of the best business schools in the country."

The Bulldogs now have two commitments for the Class of 2013.
Four-star shooting guard Kendrick Nunn (Chicago/Simeon) narrowed his college choices to Illinois, Marquette, Memphis, Ohio State and UCLA, according to ESPNChicago.com.

Nunn, who is the No. 54 ranked player in the ESPN 100, is the high school teammate of No. 1 overall player Jabari Parker.
Multiple sources are reporting on Saturday that shooting guard Josh Brown (Jersey City, N.J./St. Anthony) has reopened his recruitment and is no longer committed to Temple.

Uncommitted ESPNU 100 center Tony Parker (Lithonia, Ga./Miller Grove H.S.) is expected to make his college choice today at 4 p.m. ET.

The senior will choose between Duke, Georgia, UCLA, Kansas, Ohio State and Memphis.

"Whichever college gets Tony, they will be getting a player with a good feel for the game and a great basketball IQ, along with an incredible post presence," Miller Grove head coach Sharman White told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Parker averaged 16.6 points and 11.0 rebounds in helping Miller Grove to its fourth straight state title this season.

According to the Kansas City Star, new Kansas State head coach Bruce Weber landed his first recruit with the Wildcats on Tuesday. 6-foot-8 power forward Darrell Johnson (St. Louis, Mo./Parkway North) pledged to sign with Weber, chosing K-State over Memphis and Virginia Tech.

"I had a good visit to Kansas State and really got along with the players there," Johnson told the paper. "They told me about the program and Coach Weber, how nice a guy he is. They also have the major I'm going in to - construction engineering. I liked all those things about Kansas State."

According to the Memphis Commercial Appeal, Memphis head coach Josh Pastner landed a verbal commitment from junior college guard Geron Johnson (Dayton, Ohio/Garden City C.C.) on Thursday.

The 6-foot-3 Johnson was a member of the ESPNU 100 in the class of 2010 before spending time at two junior colleges. The Dayton native chose the Tigers over Kansas, Marshall and Dayton, among others.

"It's a big opportunity, and I'm going to take advantage of it," Johnson told the paper.

He joins current ESPNU 100 prospect Shaq Goodwin (Decatur, Ga./SW Dekalb H.S.) along with small forward Damien Wilson (Austell, Ga./Oak Hill Academy) in Pastner's 2012 recruiting class.

Despite reports on Tuesday that power forward Jarnell Stokes (Memphis, Tenn./Southwind H.S.) would decide his college plans next Monday, the Memphis Commercial Appeal is reporting that he will now announce where he will go on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. ET.

While there was speculation Stokes would enroll early and be eligible to play this year, that seems to be confirmed as he has already graduated from Southwind High School and plans on attending a school in January.

According to a report in the Memphis Commercial Appeal, ESPNU 100 forward Jarnell Stokes (Memphis, Tenn./Southwind H.S.) could graduate high school in December and suit up for a school in January once he is cleared by the NCAA.

Stokes transferred to Southwind in August but was denied a hardship waiver to compete this year by the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association.

"I've set myself up to go to college midyear. I really don't know yet, but that's definitely an option," Stokes told the paper. "I have other options that me and my dad don't want to reveal. I walk by faith and not by sight, so I'm just waiting on God to give me the word on what's my next option."

Stokes, ranked No. 18 overall in 2012, is considering Memphis, Arkansas, Florida, Connecticut, Tennessee and Kentucky.

ESPNU 100 small forward Jarnell Stokes (Memphis, Tenn./Southwind) has been denied a hardship waiver by the TSSAA Board of Control and will not suit up for Southwind this season, the Memphis Commercial Appeal reported on Monday.

Stokes left Memphis Central High last summer and was expected to enroll at Oak Hill Academy in Virginia. However, he opted to stay in his hometown and play for Southwind but was ruled ineligible in August.
