SG Ahmad Fields picks Utah

Shooting guard Ahmad Fields (Washington, D.C./Massanutten Military Academy) ended his recruitment on Friday with a verbal pledge to Utah, according to the Salt Lake Tribune.

Fields chose the Utes over USC, Colorado, St. Joseph's and Drexel, among others.

"I felt comfortable on my visit," he told the paper. "I had a great visit, and family is an important thing. It's me and my mom, so I wanted to go where I felt I fit, and I felt it at Utah."

Fields is the fifth recruit for the Utes in 2013, joining guard's Parker Van Dyke (Salt Lake City/East), Brandon Miller (Salt Lake City/Brighton) and Delon Wright (Lawndale, Calif./City College of San Francisco) along with center Marko Kovacevic (Scottsbluff, Neb./Western Nebraska C.C.).

Class of 2013 power forward Jeremiah Worthem (Philadelphia/Math, Civics and Sciences) gave a verbal commitment to Robert Morris on Thursday. The news was confirmed by his high school coach.

According to the Philadelphia Daily News, 6-foot-8 power forward Jai Williams (Philadelphia/Philadelphia Electrical & Technology) committed to St. Joseph's on Monday over offers from LaSalle, VCU, Temple, Drexel and Niagara.

"I wanted to stay close to home, so my family could come see me play," Williams told the paper. "My family wanted that, too, but even if they didn't I still would have wanted to stay. I like it around here."

Shooting guard Major Canady (Saltsburg, Pa./Kiski School) announced his college decision on Thursday night and has decided to play in the Big East for South Florida. Canady first Tweeted the news and ESPN.com has since confirmed.

The 6-foot-3 Canady chose the Bulls over Drexel, Stanford, Richmond, Pittsburgh and Virginia Tech. He joins Eagles Landing (McDonough, Ga.) teammates John Egbunu and Drew Davis, who both committed to USF in December.
According to sources, Creighton has nabbed a commitment from 6-foot-10 power forward Toby Hegner (Berlin, Wisc./Berlin).

The 2-star prospect held offers from Drake, St. Louis, Iowa State and Marquette, among a handful of others. He is the first recruit for the Bluejays from the senior-to-be class.
7-foot center Isaac Freeman (Manassas, Va./South Kent School) is headed to the Atlantic 10 after committing to the University of Massachusetts on Monday, according to multiple sources.
