Wilmington, N.C. native Elijah Wilson (Mount Zion Christian Academy) ended his recruitment for a second time this week with a verbal commitment to Coastal Carolina's 2013 class, according to the Star News.

The 6-foot-3 Laney High School graduate originally signed with College of Charleston as a senior this year but was forced to re-open his recruitment when the Cougars changed coaches.

"It's been nerve-wracking," Wilson told the paper. "I was hoping that I was going to get it settled when I signed (at CofC) but I just had to keep on grinding through it and something will eventually work out. That's how I look at the situation."

Wilson will spend a post-graduate year at Mount Zion before joining the Chanticleers.

According to ESPN.com's Dave Telep, Jacksonville landed a verbal commitment from shooting guard Jarvis Haywood (Charlotte, N.C./Harding H.S.) on Thursday.

The 6-foot-4 Haywood was originally committed to Winthrop but opened up his recruitment in October. He also had offers from Charleston Southern and College of Charleston.

"Often times the word 'steal' is way overused in recruiting," Telep said. "Let me tell: Jarvis is a steal. I thought he could have played in the A-10 or CAA and Jacksonville stuck with him the entire time. The reason why his value is high is because he can score the basketball. Call him unorthodox or whatever, the kid knows how to turn the scoreboard and he's and efficient player."

Haywood joins guard Brandon Channer (Tampa, Fla./Strawberry Crest H.S.) and center Tyler Alderman (Fishers, Ind./Fishers H.S.) in the Dolphins incoming class.

The 6-foot-5 wing chose the Cougars over Miami, his father's alma mater, and Davidson.

"(CofC head coach) Bobby (Cremins) told me, 'I want Canyon to be happy," the elder Barry told the paper. "I know Bobby means that. I know he has my family's best interest at heart."

Canyon's half-brothers Jon and Drew both played for Cremins at Georgia Tech. He is the first recruit for the Cougars in 2012.
