'14 PG Campbell continues to reel in offers
By Reggie Rankin
One of the hottest names in DMV recruiting this spring is Tre Campbell (D.C./ St. John's College), who plays for Keith Stevens and the Team Takeover AAU squad.
The Class of 2014 point guard has seen an increase in offers based on of his consistent high level of play and overall production during the early evaluation period. Campbell currently lists offers from Pittsburgh, UNC-Charlotte, Xavier, VCU, St. Joseph's, UMass, Old Dominion, LaSalle and local hoops heavyweights Georgetown and Maryland,. He is also receiving interest from Tennessee, Cincinnati and Miami (FL).
"I have taken unofficial visits to Georgetown, St. Joseph's, VCU and Penn State,” Campbell said. (But) no official visits yet.
"College coaches like that I am a true point guard -- a leader who can make open shots when needed."
I evaluated Campbell back in December at the DMV Tip-Off Classic. The 6-foot-1, 170 pound guard excelled on offense on and off the ball. He handled and delivered the ball on time and shot the ball extremely well knocking down 3s from ball reversals and on the move. I love how he got others involved but he also displayed a knack for creating and making his own shots.
Campbell has identified some goals he hopes to accomplish this spring and upcoming season in order to continue his high level of play and to keep the offers rolling in.
"I am going to continue to work on my game,” Campbell said. “I spend a lot of extra time working on my ballhandling and getting up shots and I am in the weight room working to get stronger."
