A trio of mid-major commitments went down on Tuesday, and all three are expected to sign before the end of Wednesday’s early signing period. More importantly, all three have the potential to be important additions for their new respective programs.
Chris Washburn (Grand Prairie, Texas/South Grand Prairie) to UTEP
Washburn followed in his brother’s footsteps as Julian Washburn is currently in his freshman season under Tim Floyd. Chris’ commitment is another big one for Floyd as he lands a true low-post presence capable of producing on the interior and scoring points with his back to the basket. UTEP landed his commitment over high-major programs like Texas A&M, Providence, TCU, and Texas and undoubtedly would have faced even more competition had his recruitment dragged on to the late signing period, where more and more programs would have found themselves in need of help up front.
